I just got back from seeing it. I gotta say it was a great movie. I really need to see it again to recall half of what happened. It was a tad long,
somethings were wrapped up a little quickly. I need to let it digest a bit, give others time to see it before saying too much. I highly recommend it, best
movie of the summer hands down.

Ash compare it to The Departed and Heat. It is that level of film.
Iron Man was a GREAT comic film. But this is at a whole new level. It isn't a comic film, it is a crime drama with Batman. |

My only problem with this movie was with the Voice of Batman. Bruce changes his voice for the persona to a huskier grovelled low mono toned grunt, that sounds
exactly like a pissed off Two-face. Point being that every "hero/villain seemed to use the same voice. By the end of the movie it got to me.

thanks to Dr. Wonder and Deas and all for the reviews. I actually did go wait in line (both for tickets and to enter the theater, etc....there were a lot of
lines for this movie!) and really enjoyed it.
Heath ledger *nailed* the joker; infinitely better than jack nicholson. "I am just a dog chasing cars"...he was a perfect balance of sinister evil and playful exuberance. I liked the development of all the plot lines and was actually startled out of my seat once or twice. It was visually stunning as well. Excellent! I might actually go see it in IMAX next weekend if the mood strikes. My only complaints would be the absurdly over-done gravelly tone of Mr. Bale as batman and the length. I did start checking my watch a bit around halfway through the movie. I really felt that the first hour of the movie was impeccable and that the last 1.5 hours could have been reduced to about an hour to make a better film.

amazing.. finally a movie that delivered the hype.. If you guys haven't seen/heard yet, Dark Knight is #1 on IMDB's top 250 list. It bumped Godfather
from #1 spot which had been ruling since the site opened.
It's so tragic that he died before the movie came out. Which also made me think, did his death play a factor on how his acting was received by the audience? Heath gave the World a masterpiece movie as a gift before dying. RIP
but in the end, it doesnt even matter |

I don't think his death impacted much on how his performance was received.
It may have had an impact on how the movie was received, however. I know there were Ledger fans in line who weren't Batman fans- they just wanted to see Heath's final performance. ![]() |

I'd have to agree, I don't remember seeing too much of Heath in the Joker, it was a complete transformation. He became a different
"person?".

It wasn't until the next day after my first viewing that I realized I had even watched Heath be the Joker. He WAS the Joker.

I dont remember this shot in the movie. Maybe I was just so overwhelmed with everything. I definately need to see this movie again.
but in the end, it doesnt even matter |

That was him as an Honor Guard at Gordon's "funeral"

So which villain is next? With Heath obviously not able to reprise his role, and the huge success/inevitable sequal. Which villain is next?
I have my ideas. I'm not a fan of the penguin, but it would be the most logical choice. I'd like to see someone completely different. Like Grundy, Clay face, or cat woman? any ideas? |

Two-Face is obviously up for the next movie. Penguin is a natural fit for it as well- the original Penguin not the idiotic Devito variant. Penguin is one of
the Bat's oldest nemeses, and can be made nearly as dark as Joker. I'd like to see the Cat done well and brought in.

Didn't two face die? (not that it matters) My only problems with the movie have already been stated. 1) Batman's voice way to gruff and gravelly. 2)The
movie was a bit too long. I went from OMG! This is great to when is it going to end. I was very tired because of working 3rd shift and my back has been
bothering me a lot lately.
Oh I also liked the original Rachel Dawes so much better. That doesn't matter anymore either I guess. Joker was just scary. He's what nightmares are made of. I'm sure Heath Ledger will be up for some awards for this role. It's too bad he wont be here to accept them. He went from "A Knight's Tale " to "The Dark Knight" . I find that interesting.

Yes Two Face is gone unfortunately...but his story arc was also complete.
Catwoman MUST be in the next one. I would like to see them pull off a HUSH story line as well some day. That shot above was during the funerals for Commisioner Loeb and the Judge the Joker killed. He was going for the Mayor during that scene. |

Maybe Riddler could be introduced as a Joker copycat?
but in the end, it doesnt even matter |
|||
Synch |

I don't like the idea of Riddler as a Joker copycat.
He needs to be dark, but in his own way. The joker was a sadistic animal. The Riddler has his own set of problems- including a pathological need to be caught. Thus the riddles. Done right, the Riddler could be every bit as dark as Joker. ![]() |
